Interdepartmental Tribal Justice, Safety, and Wellness Session #13

The next Tribal Justice, Safety, and Wellness (TJS&W) session #13 is scheduled for May 10- 12, 2011, at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. The conference agenda is available online at:  This national session will continue to emphasize justice, safety, and wellness issues, as well as provide an opportunity to engage in consultation regarding the following topics:

•Tribal Law and Order Act (TLOA) Long Term Detention Plan
•Tribal Law and Order Act (Other Provisions)
•Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending Registering and Tracking (SMART) TLOA & Sex Offender Registration Notification Act (SORNA) Implementation
•Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) 2012 Block Grant Proposal
•Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF) Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) Reauthorization

NCAI staff will be facilitating a tribal leaders’ caucus to assist tribal leaders in preparing for the consultations.  The caucus will be held on the evenings of Tuesday, May 10th and Wednesday, May 11th from 5:30-7:30p.m. at the conference venue.  Please check the conference agenda for the caucus meeting room information and up-to-date conference details.   NCAI encourages all tribal leaders and staff to attend the caucus to help prepare and organize for the consultation.
